Day 1. Walk from Wernigerode along a nature trail and via an artificial lake
that used to form part of the iron curtain to Bad Harzburg (about 15 miles).
(This is the "official distance". Some customers have suggested that
it is rather more than this!) Day 2. Along a forest nature trail, past rocky cliffs to a large artificial lake. Onward to Schulenberg (about 9 miles). |

Day 3. Over the Dietrichsberg, then up river valleys to Torfhaus (about 10 miles). Day 4. Up another valley and past more cliffs back to the former iron curtain and into the Harz National Park. From Hirschhörner you can walk up to the summit of the Brocken, or you can follow the new Goethe Path over the shoulder of the peak. Either way you end at Schierke (about 10 miles by direct route). Day 5. From Schierke via the Feuerstein and Leisten rock outcrops, then via Drei Annen and Armeleuteberg back to Wernigerode (about 13 miles). |

with shower/WC. One night (Torfhaus - end of day 3) in mountain hut. Packed lunches included in price.
