Map of The Harz
Day 1. Walk from Wernigerode along a nature trail and via an artificial lake that used to form part of the iron curtain to Bad Harzburg (about 15 miles). (This is the "official distance". Some customers have suggested that it is rather more than this!)

Day 2. Along a forest nature trail, past rocky cliffs to a large artificial lake. Onward to Schulenberg (about 9 miles).
Summit of the Brocken
Day 3. Over the Dietrichsberg, then up river valleys to Torfhaus (about 10 miles).

Day 4. Up another valley and past more cliffs back to the former iron curtain and into the Harz National Park.
