Hotel Dampfmühle This hotel, owned by the Sauer family for three generations, has been welcoming our guests since the beginning of 2003. The hotel is situated among the vineyards, a little way away from the centre of the village in a side valley of the River Mosel. Meals may be taken either in the restaurant or on the romantic terrace, surrounded by vines. The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool surrounded by grass where you can relax with a drink after your walks. |

Some suggested walks for this holiday Walk 1. Follow the Mosel Heights Trail to the south, above the vineyards. The route passes three fine viewpoints over the Mosel Valley and some castle ruins. Then you walk through forest to Grevenburg Castle, again a fine view point, before descending to the river at Traben-Trarbach. Cross the river and walk through the vineyards on the other side of the river, first to Mount Royal and then to Kövenig before returning to Enkirch via the foot ferry (about 7 miles). |

Walk 2. Start by following the local vineyard nature trail up
to the Mosel Heights Trail. This leads you between vineyards and forest,
then through forest, north to Zell. Cross the river and walk through vineyards
to the ferry to Briedel, which has been awarded the title of Most Beautiful
Village in the region. Return through forest to Enkirch (about 12 miles). Walk 3. Start by following the riverbank downstream to Burg. From here follow a track through vineyards to Reil. Return to Enkirch along a higher level path through the vineyards (about 7 miles). Walk 4. Leave Enkirch following the Bird Nature Trail. Walk into open country, passing a Celtic burial mound, streams and rivers. Along the way you come to an open air swimming pool, before returning to Enkirch (about 10½ miles). |
