The Mosel ValleyThe Mosel valley, flowing between the Eifel and Hunsrück massifs, is one of Europe's premier wine growing areas. The dramatically steep and curved slopes are covered with vines, while elsewhere the terrain is quite rugged. The area has a long history, with many, now often ruined, castles and picturesque towns. While a very popular area for visitors, as soon as you strike off on foot away from the river you find yourself among peaceful vineyards. Climb a little further and you are in superb wooded and rocky landscapes. |

EnkirchA six night Single Centre HolidayEnkirch is a typical small town from the Mosel Valley, noted for its half-timbered buildings. Less well known than, say, Bernkastel or Zell, Enkirch makes for a more peaceful base for a holiday without that crowds that occasionally take over the better known towns.Vines have grown on the Mosel since Roman times. Paths take you through and above the vineyards with fabulous views across the valley. While the valley sides themselves are very steep, the paths are carefully graded along the slopes. The terrain too is quite gentle, making the Mosel Valley a perfect place for a relaxing walking holiday. Your base for this holidays is a hotel away from the centre of the village, surrounded by vineyards. |
