Walking Holidays in the Hunsrück

The Ausonius Way
A seven day walking tour in the Hunsrück
The Hunsrück is noted for its Roman remains, and Ausonius was a Roman poet who lived at Trier on the Mosel; his best known work is a song in praise of the river. The wine-growing village of Neumagen-Dhron was the summer residence of Emperor Constantine. This is a walk through the heart of the western Hunsrück; your holiday will take you along old Roman roads and past remains of Roman settlements, temples and villas. Elsewhere there are romantic glens leading up from the Mosel, virgin woodland, old watermills, ruined castles and fine views. Daily ascent and descent ranges from 750ft to 1900ft.

The Heart of the Hunsrück - Morbach
A six night Single Centre Holiday
The small town of Morbach lies in the centre of the superb hill country of the Western Hunsrück. At your disposal is a network of over 200 miles of footpaths through an ever-changing landscape of extensive forests and sleepy glens, where you will find romantic castle ruins and picturesque watermills.

Just to the south is the highest peak west of the Rhine, while the Mosel Valley and the romantic wine town of Bernkastel are within easy reach, allowing you to experience a fascinating contrast.
