making it very easy to get to. A stay in Gerolstein is the perfect introduction to walking in Germany. This is a six night single centre holiday; feel free to shorten or lengthen it as best suits you. |

Hotel Tannenfels This hotel, owned by the Klever family, has been welcoming our guests on the Volcanic Eifel Walking Tour for some years now. Situated at the edge of town, it is easy to head straight off into the countryside. All rooms have either bath or shower; many have a balcony. A small gym is available to guests. All meals are carefully and individually prepared from fresh ingredients and are served in the attractive dining restaurant. |

Some suggested walks for this holiday Walk 1. Follow the Vulkanweg via a Romano-Celtic site, Kasselburg Castleand Wildlife Park and through the Sitzenbach Valley to Daun. Return by bus. (about 12 miles). Walk 2. Walk up to Gerhardstein Castle, then up to Dietzenlay and Iron Age fort and rampart offering fine views over the Volcanic Eifel. Descend past a number of old wayside crosses (about 6 miles). |

Walk 3. Follow Eifel Long Distance Path 4 through Birresborn
and Mürlenbach to Densborn. The way leads through fine forest
and past the River Kyll. Return by train from any of the above points (up to 14 miles). Walk 4. Walk up to the Rother Hecke viewpoint, then up to the top of the Rother Kopf. On the side of the hill are two caves that were inhabited during the stone age, and more recently used for ice storage (about 9 miles). |
