Day 1. Arrive in Trier or Wittlich. Transfer to Morbach or Gräfendhron. The following describes the way starting and ending in Gräfendhron. Day 2. Two 2100ft summits lie between the start and the village of Gonzerath on the Hunsrück heights (11 miles). Day 3. A more relaxing days valley walking: past watermills and the ruins of Baldenau Castle before reaching the town of Morbach (11 miles). Day 4. After the summit of the Erbeskopf (2700ft) with its fine views in all directions, walk downhill to Deuselbach (12 miles). Day 5. A long, but gentle day, the latter part through the romantic Singende Tal (singing valley) to Geisfeld (16 miles). Day 6. Follow a valley up to virgin forest with fine views over the Mosel and Hunsrück. Walk down to Bescheid (8 miles). Day 7. Along the valley, through forest to the Five Lakes View, then along the Mosel Heights Way to Neumagen-Dhron (11 miles). Day 8. A walk through valleys and over hills. Walk up to the Wacken, then down the Golden Valley to Gräfendhron (14 miles). |
