The Red Deer Trail 2012Our most Luxurious Tour | |
![]() |
In the last few years the landscape of
the Northern Black Forest has opened up and
the views have become more wide ranging.
The standard tour described below is 7 days / 8 nights, but if you are looking for
a short break, a 3 day / 4 night walk along the first half of the route is also
available. Daily distances are reasonably short, between 13 and 9 miles.
The hotels on this tour are definitely Superior Hotels: all (apart from the 3*
Superior Hotel Schwarzwaldschäfer, where you stay at the end of the
second day's walk) are 4* or equivalent, and all have
their own swimming pool. The Forsthaus Auerhahn (at the end of Day 5)
now only has non-smoking rooms.
This holiday includes free use of local public transport throughout your stay. |

Tour Details: Packages of 8 and 4 nights Bed & Breakfast
are available, mainly in superior hotels, in rooms with shower or bath and WC. All hotels
have swimming pools. Baggage transfer. Free use of local public transport.
Extra nights may be taken at any point.
Unusually for the Black Forest, most, though not all of the hotels on this walk
do have one or two twin rooms; they are only available on special request and
cannot be guaranteed.
Information on double and
twin rooms.
Dates: Available
from April to October.
These hotels are always very popular. Bookings for more than three rooms need to be made as far in advance (six months notice typically) as possible. At Public Holiday Periods there may be no availability at all. In addition, accommodation in Freudenstadt is very limited during the first week in October. This may require that tours that would start or end in Freudenstadt during this period be adapted so that the first or last nights are spent in Kniebis. Please ask for more information. |
